The NEWEST-CCUS research team will carry out a range of activities across the three key work packages to:

Establish the full overview of technical possibilities and limitations of oxy-fuel combustion capture applied to the European Waste-to-Energy sector

Bridge the knowledge gap on oxy-combustion of waste and supply data for process modelling

Demonstrate and optimise oxy-fuel circulating fluidised bed combustion of solid recovered fuel (SRF)

Assess the potential of CO2 membrane based post-combustion capture and its combination with O2 enrichment in WtE

Obtain data on the operational issues of solvent-based post-combustion CO2 capture processes when operating with waste-derived flue gases

Establish a common basis for CO2 capture technology comparison for WtE applications
